Weekend for the Davis Family

This week has been packed full of fun things. I have tried my best to keep my kiddos busy because otherwise they fight! Really Bad!!! So we did Storytime at the Library this past week. The boys did not enjoy it so it's something we will probably not do again. The sitting still for an hour was not their cup of tea. But at least I tried something new for them. FAIL.
This was them at the library! Can you see the boredom?

Then Saturday we loaded up with my mom and dad and went to the Memphis Zoo to spend the day. I figured this was one thing we better hurry and do before it gets extremely hot! The boys had a blast. Before we left we enjoyed some dippin dots! WoW those things are expensive!!!!
The panther wanted to eat Caden! LOL

 This was so gross!!
Nothing like a train ride to make a boy happy

Then of course you know we went "FISHING" We can't help it. We are country folks. Sad thing we didn't get one bite. Oh well maybe next time.

Weigh in Wednesday

I am going to start documenting my weightloss! Mainly for myself so I can see how far I have came. I started my journey at 238. Yes you read right!
The numbers are still scary and no where close to where I want to be but it is an excellent start. This has been such a tough journey for me. I have realized that so much of my weight problem is not genetics but emotional. It has been so hard mentally to overcome this and I shouldn't even say overcome because I struggle every minute of every day. Just because I had lapband doesn't mean that food doesn't call my name! It calls my name constantly and if I give in I will quickly return to 238! Or more!!
Anyways that being said I went to the doc today for another fill. So liquids for me the next three days!
Down 26 pounds!!

May 2013

May came and went way too fast! But May brought a bunch of exciting things.

  • Case is officially done with school and passed to the 3rd grade! Yay!!! And in celebration I took him and Caden to Chucke Cheese and to see Epic. It was a fantastic afternoon.
  • My daddy celebrated his 54th birthday. (At least I hope he was 54) I cooked for him and had some great family time.
  • We have done ALOT of fishing. That seems to be our favorite past time.
  • We planted our garden and it has came up and we are waiting patiently for our veggies.
  • Mother's Day! I will not forget the awesome breakfast I had made for me.
  • Caden officially has a loose tooth. That is possibly the most traumatic thing yet for this child. It has been a humdinger of a weekend? (is humdinger a word?)
  • Ollie and me were sprayed by a skunk and it was possibly the worst experience yet for me. It lingered for a day or two.
  • I tried to raise a baby rabbit but it died a few days after the rescue.
Many other things happened I just can't think of them all right now. Main thing was we have spent as much time as possible together as a family. And we have definitely been making memories!! Until next year May!! See ya later!!

Mother's Day 2013

Mother's Day was very special to me this year and every other year. The boys took me Saturday to watch Iron Man 3. Yes this was requested by me because I LOVE Iron man!! I also love all Marvel Superheros movies!!!
Sunday the boys got up and with the help of daddy made me breakfast AND also made my coffee just the way I like it! It was so sweet! Although poor Ole' Matty Boy was tired afterwards. Then we road the razor and ranger  all over the place. That was fun and the boys enjoyed every minute of that. And lastly we planted our garden. I am not sure if it is going to make anything but it was fun to do!!! I had a great weekend with my sweet little family!!
My delish breakfast
Planting the garden!!
And Caden on the razor!

Graduation 2013

So for all that knows me knows that I have been awaiting the day for Caden to go to kindergarten. The reason being is because he is an absolute handful. Stubborn and hard headed like no other. But he can also be so very sweet and so dang cute. I said and I quote "I am not going to cry when he graduates preschool because that is one step closer to kindergarten. And I am not going to cry the day I take him to kindergarten either." I am going to go ahead and retract that last statement because I boohooed like a baby when he graduated preschool. That baby kept grinning at us and waving. He was so absolutely excited and it was so bittersweet.
I no longer have a baby. I now have children. A soon to be third grader and a kindergartener. My heart aches for the babies they use to be. And seeing that child walk down the aisle in his cap and gown made tears roll down my cheeks and made me half nauseated.
You remember in school when you thought the school year would never end and it seemed like getting to age 16 was never going to come. I wish time was slow like that again. It is like yesterday I had my babies in my arms. (begging for kindergarten...LOL) Oh if I could go back things would be so different. It is funny how things change.
Sitting here typing this and looking at these pictures make me relive the moment. I am teary eyed right now. This is probably why I have procrastinated this post. He graduated April 25th. It is now May 4th.

Here is my baby walking down the aisle!

Getting his diploma from his teacher, Ms. Shannon

Ohhh, he wants to be a farmer when he grows up!

*Sniff Sniff*
Big Brother Case was super excited for him too! *Sniff*

And here is the picture of our completely dysfunctional, loving, awesome, fun family.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

What a cute saying. Except when your a farmer and it seems that the April showers come in inches and every other day! Matt was finally able to get back in the fields yesterday. Thank you Good Lord. That man was about to drive me bonkers. But I love him anyways. So here I am on a Sunday morning being a farmer's widow with 2 boys. (I know, I know I should have these kids in church) It's been a relaxing day so far and I hope it stays that way!
We have really been a busy family lately. The days its not raining we have went fishing, ranger riding and play outside until those nasty buffalo gnats run us in. Caden also went with his preschool do the Museum of Discovery. Odd place and we will probably never go back but he enjoyed the slide and climbing area. It's more geared for older children who have the brains. We are country hicks who want dirt and trees to climb. But we rode with a good friend and had lots of good laughs. We had lunch at the infamous All Aboard restaurant. Yummy food but ate way too much.
On another note I have started reading a new book that a friend suggested, Desperate. It's a book about how us mommies have the persona about how life should be. Perfect cook, mommy, housekeeper, wife and etc. But in real life its just not possible. We thrive for it and then when we fail we give up on all of it. This book fits me to a T and I highly recommend it to all mommies and mommies to be. We can't do it all and be perfect and have perfect kids. We are sinners. As much as I want to be Proverbs 31 woman, I can't. I have struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life and more so after the birth of my second son and believe me its an awful feeling. A feeling that I never want to feel again. And me not being able to accomplish everything like I think I should could easily send me back there. I definitely don't want to go back. This book is awesome and you know what?, there are other moms just like me!
This brings me on to my weight loss journey. By far this is the hardest thing ever beside being a mommy. I have lost a total of 18 pounds. I feel like maybe I should have lost more but I did say from the get go I want to lose it SLOW!! At least I am losing and not gaining. I go back to the Doc this week and hopefully get another fill.
Here are some pics from the past few weeks.

Easter 2013

Of course Easter celebrations begin a few days before Easter Sunday. Ours began last Wednesday when the our town church had an Easter egg hunt. The boys had a blast!
On Thursday was both of the boys Easter parties at school. Caden had an Easter egg hunt and he was more than excited to go hunt some eggs and see what prizes he got.

After Caden's party we went to join Case with his party. Case was a little disappointed because they don't get to hunt Easter eggs in the 2nd grade. Also he doesn't like his pictures taken so I only got a few and this was the best one. It has begun to embarrass him. But he had a blast and got lots of goodies. I secretly think he was more excited that he didn't have to go to school the next day. LOL
Fast forward to Saturday night and they are almost to hyped up about the Easter bunny to even think about going to bed. They also felt the need to leave the Easter bunny some carrots. I don't think the Easter bunny cared for them too much because he only took a bite out of each!*wink wink*

 Can we say "Too Cute"
Of course on Easter morning these two boys were up at the crack of dawn. So excited to see what the bunny left and swollen eyes! Overall our Easter was very relaxing. My mom and dad came to lunch and I cooked. I tried to make the Outback Steakhouse bread which was a complete FAIL. But I made my first homemade coconut pie with 3-4 inch high meringue and according to everyone it was delish. I hate coconut because it gags me. Ha!
